Ouch!
Is the universe trying to tell me something? First it was my scratched eye (ouch) and then, just as that started to heal, I developed a HUGE toothache, complete with Brando-esque cheek, circa The Godfather.
It's not ever a look I thought I would cultivate.
I'm actually in quite a bit of pain, alas, so I won't be around much until I hie to a dentist this week.
Remind me to tell you about this new writing motivation book I am reading, Write is a Verb. If you have trouble dragging yourself to the keyboard...this might be able to nudge you closer.
And here's a question for you all to think about...how do you take advice? Meaning, how do you take information from a class, or a book, or a blog, or a friend, and add it into your life so that it makes an impact?
See you when I don't look so much like a squirrel.
PS: Bloglines readers...is this better?
PPS: Thank you for all of your wisdom about the Madam. I will take all of your words with me when I meet with her team (what a strange word) this week.

So sorry to hear about all the ouches over there. And the worries. I hope things take a good turn on all fronts.
What an interesting question about advice. I'm interested to hear other responses (including yours). I don't think I even know what the answer is for me. Very badly, often. In the best cases, very gradually. I think I often throw it out until I hear the same thing over and over and believe it.
i hope you're feeling better today, miss m. i've been thinking about our conversation yesterday a lot. you've given me delicious food for thought! :)
Oh, feel better :) You have had a time of it lately!
As for how I take advice - at first I get really excited about it (if it's good advice that is), then I make a good effort to try it once or twice, and then, sadly, I backslide into my old ways.
That's a really good question. I wish I had a more inspiring answer!
hi, there, m.
i hope you're feeling better. i'm sending lots of love.
On advice. The way I evaluate advice has changed. I used to initially consider the source and if it didn't come from someone I trusted and respected, I didn't pay much attention. I find now that I consider advice from just about any source, think about it and try objectively decide if it has merit. If it seems worth a try, I file it in that mental category and then attempt to make an effort to give it a shot as soon as I have the chance. Often, I need to push myself to do it, but taking good advice usually entails some kind of effort or pain, doesn't it?
good question about advice. i think sometimes for it to make an impact, i need to find some way to incorporate it into my life for a good long until it becomes a habit. and sometimes i need to hear a certain piece over and over until it makes an impact. and sometimes good advice sounds good, but doesn't stick. And sometimes advice is good, but just isn't for me, so i have to let it go.
and yes, it was a little easier to read the bloglines post this time around, although, still kinda tiny. maybe my eyesight is going? ;-)
I mostly get my advice via navel gazing. Or I ask my husband, girlfriends, and google.
I'm going with Lisa's response on advice. I especially pay attention to what comes my way and my head immediately starts arguing - that's a pretty good clue there's something in there I need to hear.
Hope all your hurts are better.
I am really stubborn - I like to
learn the hard way - trial and error -
very time consuming - although I am
getting better at taking advice -
:) I wouldn't even be having an
art show if I didn't take advice
from Jessie LOL -
and now I am so grateful I listened.
Usually I am so stubborn. LOL
Hope you get better soon sweetie.
x
